Pauline Nelson is an ordained minister and dedicated servant at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She was appointed Sunday school superintendent in 2000 after serving as a teacher and secretary of the Sunday school department. Her father Rev. Richard Bullock Sr. who was the Sunday school superintendent at the time consulted with the late Pastor Parnell Baxter and his wife Sister Betty Baxter. They agreed that this torch should be passed down to Minister Nelson and she humbly accepted the position. Minister Nelson also serves on the Mission Outreach Board Visitation ministry. Additionally, she is part of the music ministry as a member of the adult choir. She also ministers in song with her 7 biological sisters in a singing group called Emmanuel.
Minister Nelson has worked as a certified home health aide and certified nursing asst. for many years. In 2004 she began to feel the call of God on her life to not just minister to the physical man but to the whole man. She pursued this call to the ministry at the Mount Calvary Baptist where she was licensed under the late Pastor Parnell Baxter. She was ordained in February 2012 under the present Pastor George Bullock Sr.
While working as a home health aide she experienced and developed a passion for working with patients on palliative and hospice care. This inspired her to obtain more training in this field. One of her most fulfilling experiences was working as a volunteer, visiting patients for VNA Hospice Care. She continues to work diligently in this field, leading souls to Christ along the way.
One of her favorite quotes is lyrics from a song called, ” If i can help somebody” sung by Mahalia Jackson.
If I can help somebody, as I pass along
If I can cheer somebody, with a word or a song
If I can show somebody, that they’re traveling wrong
Then my living shall not be in vain.
